A driving instructor with no website, and a lot he did not know how to do, ended up with a site that explains his costs and brings in enquiries.
Home/Blog/Stig Motoring School case study
Stig runs a driving school in West London. For a long time he did it without a website, and that shaped most of his working day.
Every new learner asked the same things. What do lessons cost, which packages are there, what happens in a first lesson. Each answer was given again over WhatsApp, or on a call, one person at a time. It worked, but it ate time he would rather have spent teaching.
What he wanted was simple. One place where someone could come, understand the costs and find everything about the school, without a string of messages and calls first.
Stig had never had a site, so he decided to build one himself, using AI tools to do the work for him. That got him a long way, which is what those tools are good at.
Then he ran into the list of things nobody had mentioned. How do you appear on Google Maps? How do you get into Google search in the first place? Which words do people actually type when they look for a driving lesson? What is a blog for, and how do you run one? The tools had made pages. They had not told him what a site has to do to be found.
That gap is a common one, and it is the subject of what you need to know when building a site.
We built him a clear, custom site over thirteen pages, with the costs and the packages laid out where learners can find them, and an enquiry form with a package selector so he knows what each conversation is about before it starts. There is a testimonials section with photos of real students, and a blog of the questions learners really search for.
Underneath it, the groundwork for being found: a sitemap submitted to Google, Search Console set up to watch what happens, per page search settings, a clean single address with redirects from the old one, and his Google Business Profile, the listing that appears on Google Maps, managed with him added as a manager. The technical write up is in how we built the Stig Motoring School site.
Stig now sends customers to the site. They find the costs and the answers to their questions there, in place of getting them one message at a time. And more and more customers are contacting him through it.
We do not have before and after figures to put here, and we would rather leave numbers out than guess at them. What we can say is what he told us it changed: his time. The technical side, from hosting to search, is handled, so he can focus on the part of the business he understands best, which is teaching people to drive.
If you have tried to build a site yourself, or are about to, the useful question is not only how to get pages online. It is what the site has to do once they are. Our pricing page shows what a build costs, and you can tell us what you are after if you want to talk it through.
Tell us what you are building and we will come back with a plain answer on what it needs and what it would cost.
